I’m not very good at reading the Bible.

I enjoy some sections better than others; for example, I can get into Proverbs and the Gospels but can’t really get into the Apocalyptic literature much.

Maybe I’m just too into ‘practical’ wisdom.

Honestly, I can devour the wisdom books, excluding Job, in a single sitting, but I’m not very attentive when trying to read Proverbs.

I’ve never really liked poetry much.

Nevertheless, I wanted to get to know the Bible more, so I’ve been listening to it as an audiobook while commuting to work. The advantage of this is that I cover a lot more material through listening than through reading.

Let me explain what I mean.

You Finish in a Shorter Amount of Time

Getting into the Bible is hard.

I’ve tried.

I guess it’s hard because it’s written for the 1st Century AD (or CE) audience.

The hardest part for me is trying not to fall asleep after reading a chapter where nothing resonates with me.
